Hello Friends! I wanted to write a quick note to let you know why I have had to “vanish” for a while. About 8 weeks ago an endocrinologist started me on a new medication that ultimately led me down a whole new path for life. If you want the details, keep reading. If not, know that I'm back and have an ever increasing joy for life and living it!
The Challenge Began
So, this doctor put me on a new medication. All good right? Well, not really. Turns out my body did not like the medication and I went into a coma-like state for 2 weeks. When I had enough energy to lift my head from the pillow I called and they told me that my 24/7 sleeping had nothing to do with new medication. Needless to say, over the few days I decided to stop the medication. “Amazingly” enough, I got back to my normal energy level 1.5 days after stopping the meds.
I Had a Choice
That experience really set me off. I have spent 7 years trying to have the medical community figure out some of my challenges to no success. Now, I could keep doing what I had always done and keep getting the same terrible results, or make a change. . . The doctors are now all fired.
The Change
I now see a fabulous nutritionist, Kyle Shay, that has been able to identify a slew of allergies that the doctors could not figure out. (I'd share a website, but he does not have one yet!) I have switched from what I really thought was a healthy diet to one that is gluten free, soy free and mostly dairy free. [Those that know me, will realize how significant dairy-free is — I have many friends and family that have suggested we get our own dairy cattle as a cheaper way to feed my dairy consumption – mostly milk!]
I even needed to change the organization of my kitchen! There are now cabinets with food Stephanie can eat and cabinets that I don't even open because they contain foods I cannot eat.
The Evolution & Success Guarantee
Any big evolution in your life, whether it is de-cluttering your space or changing the way you eat, requires support. The more support I made sure to put into my life, the more I guarantee my success.
My first great decision was finding a professional that would listen completely to my challenges. Because I knew that I was being heard completely, it was much easier for me to hear the message of change that was shared with me. (No matter how much I did not want to hear it!)
I have also enlisted friends and my son to encourage and support my change. They provide resources and cheer leading when I get frustrated. They have also helped me on my journey by helping me to read food labels as I go to the store and more. All in all, I'm not alone and that is comforting and empowering!
Also, the more I tell others of the change I AM making, the more I am committing to myself.
The Short-Term Impact
Since my focus was on regaining my independence, I had to take a pause on my social networking, blogging, etc. for a while. They are activities that are important to me, but for the short term, I had to make a choice. I also limited my volunteer and other activities to focus as much of my time as possible to the change at hand.
I've been working on learning new ways to shop (organic mostly with different types of food), cook and eat (calories have been increased significantly!) I have also been reading like a mad woman!
The Results!
I am already feeling much better and others are noting a difference in my physical appearance. I have a long way to go to get to where I ultimately want to be, but I'm thrilled with the results so far and am excited to keep going on my change program.
I'm also re-energized about my business! You see, I help people with major changes in their life every day. By going through this major life change of my own, I'm reminded of how difficult and sometimes scary change can be. I'm excited about the new experiences I will have helping others find their independence too!
