Reduce — Reuse — Recycle. We have heard those words for quite some time now. Some of us take those words more seriously than others, however, did you know that by going “green” with your business you can:
- help the environment
- market to a different segment of the population, and
- help your bottom line?
In, Saving money and the planet – green can be good for bottom line, AllBusiness.com talks about ways that you can easily implement green strategies into your business, office and travel. There were a lot of things we were already doing, but the article gave me a few more to consider.
Go Paperless!
One thing that the article talked about was going paperless. A lot of our clients think that paperless is impossible, but it may not be as hard as you think. We do a lot of work with different clients to help them develop systems that allow them to be paperless. Did you know that most small businesses have at least 9 paper copies of every document because they either cannot find the original, or because the paper copy is the way that the information is distributed? It only gets bigger as the company gets bigger. That is a lot of paper!
Want to take baby steps and go paperless?
Start with something like electronic faxes. We love ours! We use a service that allows a person to fax to a phone number, but rather than a physical fax coming out on our end, it lands in our email in-boxes. Most of the time we look at the fax and file it electronically, or delete it. No paper! The other great thing about a service like this is that if I want to show someone the fax, I can forward the file attachment via my email rather than copying it and mailing it.
Take a read on the article and tell me what you think. A lot of going green helps with de-cluttering and simplified systems. What have you tried? Let me know! I'd love to hear about it. Please comment on our blog at the bottom of this posting.
