How well do you guard your spare moments?
“Guard well your spare moments. They are like uncut diamonds. Discard them and their value will never be known. Improve them and they will become the brightest gems in a useful life.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
What Spare Moments?
Did you read that quote and ask “what spare moments?” I talk to people from all over the world and one thing I find consistent is that many of the people I talk to say they do not have the time to do the things they want to do. You may have spare moments available in your life that you are not aware of.
How Many Hours Do You Lose?
Did you know that the average person wastes 150 hours per year just looking for things? Add to it the time spent on things that are not leading to your priorities and you could be stealing your available spare moments from you!
In today’s tough economic times, it is more important than ever to make the most of what you have — Time, space, information, knowledge… you name it!
The most successful entrepreneurs are people that know how to guard every moment and turn them into finely cut diamonds. They have habits and systems in their lives and businesses that allow them to make the most of every spare moment. That is why they are successful! Do you have ways to make your diamonds?
What to Do Next
Like Emerson states, guard your moments! That starts with being aware of where you spend your time. So, this week, be more conscious. Do you spend your time on things that are leading you to your goals, or on other things? Be honest with yourself. How much do you get distracted by things that take your uncut diamonds and throw them away?
Then, comment on this posting with your candid feedback about what you are finding. Give me some challenges and I’ll give you some solutions to what you find.
I look forward to hearing from you.
To your success!
