If you aren't keeping your online profiles complete, you are missing out on some great connections and opportunities. If you are out on the net on various social networking sites you may be losing a huge opportunity to take your connections to deeper level connections. You see, most social networking sites give you the ability to list other ways for people to connect with you. If you leave those fields blank, you are not using your tools as effectively as possible. Today I'll share why you should care and what you can do about it.
Why Complete Social Profiles Are Important
Let me give you an example of why this can be important for you. About a week ago Corinne McElroy, who is the owner of Edge of Change and a Leadership Performance Coach, found me my podcast and started listening to my recordings. She liked what she heard so she went to my blog to check out more. She found my blog because I have it linked in my profile and I mention it in every recording I do! Anyway, Corinne liked what she was reading and saw that I was on Facebook too (also noted in my profile). She decided to link to one of my posts on her Facebook page and tag me. That started a deeper conversation that led to us to talking on the phone and deciding to work together on a teleconference project scheduled for January.
If I had not taken the time to complete my profile, we probably would not be doing the project in January.
Different sites allow you to share different levels of information.
Bottom line: Make sure that all of your online profiles are complete
