Today I’ll break down how to create your own “Power Hour” so that you can get things rocking in your business!
Pick 4 areas of your business that really need some focus. (for example, marketing, book keeping, recruiting, office administration, etc.)
Divide your hour into 4 – 15 minute segments and follow these steps”
The concept of a power hour is that you spend 15 minutes — really really focused minutes on four tasks that need consistent focus that you find you do not get to on a regular basis.
How many of you have a big pile (either all together or spread out throughout your home or office) of different sized booklets that give you information about something you purchased? How many of them have you ever referenced?
Next question, if something broke down, could you find it when you needed it? I now know about a great resource that will help you get rid of your obscure ones with no problem!
I am always clipping out (or tearing out) articles from various professional and personal magazines that I will read “some day.” I have been doing this for years (say, way back to those high-school days believe it or not…) I used to get so frustrated because I never found the time to get to the articles and they just kept piling up on my floor or desk.
Then someone helped me!
When I first started working in corporate America, right out of college, my manager told me to make a 5-10 Minute file. He explained that we frequently waste time because we are waiting on someone else. [The company I worked for was infamous for starting meetings late – how aggravating!] To combat that waste of time, he suggested I have a file that contained information that I could read quickly if I was ever looking for something to do for a few minutes.
“Call her, beep her, if you want to reach her….” I was watching T.V.with my 6-year-old son today. We were watching Kim Possible. For those of you that don’t have the chance to watch a number of cartoons, Kim Possible is a a high-school girl that also saves the world. “Nothing is impossible for a Possible.”
So, why would I bring this up? Well, you can learn from some cartoons if you take a moment to see the lessons they are trying to show the children watching.
Today they had a theme that they repeated throughout the episode, “A problem is just a misunderstood opportunity.” How true! What challenges have you been fretting over lately that if just looked at a bit differently could be an opportunity waiting to happen?
