Select one task you've been putting off
Only one! Often we end up putting off different tasks because we lump them all together. Pick the one top thing that needs to get done that you have been putting off. Maybe pick the one that has been eating at you the most. You know, the one that every time you look at it you roll your eyes and grunt.
Time yourself
Give the task one hour. Most everyone can stay attached to something for a hour.
Ignore everything else around you
And she means everything! No thoughts of chores, email, text-messaging, kid's activities, etc.
No breaks allowed
Take your restroom trip before you start and make sure your favorite music is playing and you have your water or soda, etc. Work straight through.
Give yourself a reward when the task is done
When you complete your task, CELEBRATE!
