Anonymous Information Collected
We put an effort into researching, vetting, and making available a wide variety of information that is free for you to access and contributes directly to your business success and life success.
This site collects anonymous data about site visitors to help us know what information you find most valuable so we can create more of it.
Consumption of content on this site means that you agree to the Privacy and Terms of Use set forth here.
In other words, we freely give you the information, and you allow us to know that someone, somewhere read it. We can’t trace it back to you. It’s anonymous.
An IP address is an anonymous bit of data shared by all site visitors (both human and non-human/bots). It is tracked by the following third parties for better security, content creation, and marketing purposes.
Your browser may also send response headers with generic/anonymized information about the type of browser, computer/device, and ISP you are using, and your location by country only.
The privacy policy of each third party that collects this information is linked below if you would like more info about them.
- Google Fonts – so we can deliver this site using fonts that match our branding in a way that allows consistent updating of the fonts.
- Google Analytics – so we can discover the type of content you find most helpful and create more of it. The tool allows us to access standard metrics such as the number of site visitors accessing our website, what they do when they are on the site, how they found our website, and how they interact with our content. (Note: Google does not have access to this data.) Go to Google's Partner Policies page to understand how Google uses data when you use partner sites. You can opt out of Google Analytics by visiting the Google Analytics Opt-Out Page.
- Google Captcha – used on some forms on this site to confirm you are not a bot.
- Facebook Pixel Tracking – so we can retarget ads to like-minded people on that social platform. (Not your email, just anonymous IPs) However, Facebook does collect data for its own purposes. Review Facebook's Privacy Policy for more.
- Iridium Hosting – kept in the server logs so the host can identify and stop bad automated/bot attacks and keep this site safe.
- Cloudflare – so the CDN can identify and stop bad automated/bot attacks and keep this site safe.
- YouTube – if you view a YouTube-embedded video on the site, the IP info is sent to YouTube to record that the video has been viewed, just as it would if you had watched it directly on YouTube.
- Pinterest Tag – so we can understand who views our web pages and the actions that are performed on our site including adding an item to the shopping cart or showing an interest in a product or service for advertising.
Comments
Leaving a comment on one of the posts on this site requires that you identify yourself by email address. When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
That information is stored in the site’s database.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if the email address you used is connected to that provider so your image displays next to your comment. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Embedded content from other websites
Posts and pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, audio player images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How We Use Cookies
While our favorite cookie is a toss-up between a Girl Scout Thin Mint or a gluten-free oreo, that is not the type of cookie we are referring to here.
“Cookies” are small text files that are placed on a computer or other device and used to identify the user or device and to collect information when you visit a website. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes, and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences.
Cookies may be set by the website you are visiting (also known as “first party cookies”) or by third parties who provide advertising or analytics services on the website (also known as” third party cookies”).
We use cookies for several different purposes.
You can disable cookies through your web browser’s settings, but disabling this function may diminish your experience on our Website as some features may not work as intended.
We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyze data about web page traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website, by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us.
You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser settings to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the website.

- Going to their account privacy settings in their browser and turning off personalization;
- Going to the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out tool. When you click this link, https://optout.aboutads.info/?c=2&lang=EN, the site will evaluate your device and tell you what cookies are currently on your site. You can then choose to remove all or specific cookies.;

- Going to https://www.youronlinechoices.com/, if you’re based in the EU.
Automated Decision-Making
We use the personal information that we collect for automated decision-making (i.e., making a decision solely by automated means without any human involvement) if it is authorized by legislation if you have provided explicit consent, or if it is necessary for entering into or performance of a contract.
When using automated decision-making, we will provide you with further information about the logic involved, your right to obtain human intervention, the potential consequences of the processing, and your right to contest the automated decision.
