In order for any business to grow, they have to TAKE ACTION! This can be really difficult for some.
Procrastination is the #1 reason small businesses stall and do not grow as quickly as they would like.
Let's put an end of that today!
Here are some great techniques to defeat your procrastination.
Chris Garrett recently posted on Defeating Procrastination. He shares that analysis paralysis can keep any well-intentioned person from getting things to the completion stage. Here are the tips that he shares to overcome that:
What do you absolutely have to do for the project to be a success?
What tasks can absolutely not be put off while later?
What are the most painful items to change post launch?
What could realistically go wrong?
Why These Four?
Understanding what absolutely has to be done on a project is important. We often get caught up in so much of the details looking for perfection that we never take action. Understanding the four points above help you to really focus on what is important.
But Steph, Don't You Tell Us Planning Is Important??
Of course! However, if you spend all of your time planning, you never make it to your goal. Like most things, balance is key. As Chris states, “Planning is good. Failure to plan is planning to fail. But too much can be as crippling as not enough.”
Its Not Change it is an Experiment
Taking action means making a change. Most of us don't like change. In fact, most of us are terrified of change either consciously or unconsciously. My colleague, Becky Davies, shared a great perspective that she uses as she coaches her consultants.
Don't think of it as change, think of it as an experiment!
I love this concept. By using the 4 steps that Chris notes and thinking of your project as an experiment, you can get past your analysis paralysis and get your projects live. Then, as you learn things, you can make modifications.
Now, go take action and let me know how it goes!
To your success,
